“Halleluiah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory!”–Revelation 19:6-7
One word can say it all. Today’s word is “Halleluiah!” translated into English in three words, “Praise the LORD.”
“Halleluiah!” is a terrific word. It is easy to say. It is packed with meaning. It is fitting for any and every situation. It is a word that reminds us of just who this LORD we worship, is. He is the God of free and faithful love. He is the faithful one, who forgives all our sins in Christ Jesus our Lord. He is the one who, through Jesus, allows us to experience his faithful love now and for eternity. When we say, “Halleluiah!” (“Praise the LORD!”), we are reminded that our sins are forgiven. We are reminded that the God of the universe loves us and continues to watch over us. We are reminded that as we praise him now we will praise him eternally. “Halleluiah!” gives us a faith-filled response to any and every situation. “Halleluiah!” reminds us that just as the LORD has been faithful to his people in the past, so he will continue to be faithful to his people now and forever. “Halleluiah! Praise the LORD!” reminds us that “nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” because he is ruling over all things for our good.
So when something good happens to you say, “Halleluiah! Praise the LORD!” for showing his great love toward you.
When a trial wears you down or tragedy strikes say, “Halleluiah!” Praise the LORD!” because he is drawing you to trust his faithfulness and increase your faith.
When you are brought to recognize a sin that harms you or your neighbor and are brought to confess it say, “Halleluiah!” Praise the LORD!” for his forgiveness and that he didn’t let you get so caught in sin’s snare that it drew you away from him.
When you’re confused as to what to do or what decision to make say, “Halleluiah! Praise the LORD!” and make your decision confidently because he promises to bless whatever decisions we make in faith, in accordance with his faithfulness.
“Halleluiah! Praise the LORD!” A simple word, packed with meaning. Let it be on your lips always. And why not? After all, it’s going to be on your lips when you get to the throne of God in heaven. So as you will say it then, start saying it now–“Halleluiah! Praise the LORD!”
